I dramaet The Music Never Stopped er Henry (J.K. Simmons) og Gabriel (Lou Taylor Pucci) far og søn. De er uenige om alt fra tidens musik til politiske synspunkter, og Gabriel vælger derfor at gøre oprør ved at skære alle bånd til sin familie over. Næsten to årtier senere genforenes familien, da Gabriel har fået en hjernesvulst og skal igennem en større operation. Efter operationen er Gabriels hjerne så beskadiget, at han ikke længere har nogen langtidshukommelse og dermed ingen minder. Henry er imidlertid klar til at prøve alt, så hans søn ikke glider fra ham igen, og han opsøger derfor Dr. Dianne Daly (Julia Ormond), der er musikterapeut.
